Aperture Control Task

In this task we were asked to show four images one showing narrow depth of field, one showing wide depth of field, one showing fast shutter speed and one showing slow shutter speed.

Narrow Depth of Field 1/125 F4.2 ISO 800

Wide Depth of Field - 1/125 F16 ISO 800

Slow Shutter Speed 4s F36 ISO 200

Fast Shutter Speed 1/1000 F5.3 ISO 1600

Evaluation

I am still learning to use the camara controls at this point so it was hard enough trying to get a picture that actually did not appear under exposed or over exposed.  I found the narrow depth of field and wide depth of field easier than the shutter speed controls but I guess this would have been easier if I had shot something moving a bit faster than the water on the river.  I enjoyed the exercise and am happy I am not just shooting black images anymore.  My favourite image is the flower image the others are a little boring.  I used my Nikon D90 Camera with the kit lens 18-105 F3.5-5.6 and on the shutter speed control images I used my tripod.

Deb's Photography Blog and Intro into Assignment 101

I have chosen to do the Level 1 Award in Photography, Units 101 Introduction to image capture and Unit 107 Introduction to presenting photo images with the optional choice of Unit 108 Digital image manipulation.

In this unit I am going to produce a minimum of 6 images that will relate to a theme.  This theme could include people, places objects or colour.  I will then provide a written account for the folio of images which will explain the preparation used, how the equipment is used to capture the images and how the final images will relate to the chosen theme. I will then present my images with a written account of the techniques used for the final assignment.

In Unit 101 Introduction to Image capture I will learn how to prepare and use the camara to capture images.  This will enable me to use the skills of setting up, using, dismantling and storing equipment and materials to capture images. I will produce a folio of images and a written account for my work.

In Unit 107 Introduction to presenting photo images I will learn how to present my images which will result in a presentation of my images and a written account.

In Unit 108 Digital Image manipulation I will learn how to manipulate images for viewing.  This will entail selecting images, selecting software, manipulating and modifying the image.
